Trying to decide what you want to be when you eventually leave school can be daunting, particularly if you have no ideas. Some people know exactly what they want to do and they never waver. Others will suddenly change their mind. Really what you have to do is find out what qualifications you need and whether you can spend some time seeing precisely what the job entails. You will also need to weigh up the pros and cons. In other words what you dislike and like about the job.
There are a number of jobs that are difficult to get into. Acting is one of them. First of all you have to have the talent and then you will need to get into drama school. Many talented actors failed to get into some of the best drama schools before finally being accepted by one of the others. You will have to be able to learn lines and work can be sporadic. Many actors can spend quite a bit of time resting. They therefore usually take on temporary jobs in between in order to pay the rent. Some can get work either in advertisements or by just doing the voiceovers for them. In order to get a part they have to audition for it which can be tough, as you could end up going to a lot of auditions before you are taken on. The part could be for the stage, a film, television or even the radio. You will need a huge amount of confidence and a burning desire to be an actor. As you will face strong criticism at times this can be very demoralizing. If you process these and have the talent then you should really go for it. You never know what the future may hold for you and if you try you will then never have any regrets. If only? Is a hard thing to live with much harder than trying and failing believe me.
